Hand dyed Lugana for Sale

So now you have seen examples of my fabric being stitched and enjoyed by myself. Here are some pieces I have available for purchase. The Pieces are all fat quarters of Zweigart Lugana (28 count even  weave).  These first four pieces are plain or non opalescent and are priced at $35 AUD per piece. I have stretched each piece over a q-snap frame approximately 15 x 17 inches in size to provide a visual frame.
I call this colour combo Forest Floor and the dye effect Gemstone.

The colour I have titled Love potion and the dye effect I have used here is Aurora

I have named this piece Potpourri as the colours remind me of dried rose petals.
The dye effect here is Gemstone.

This piece I have labeled Tropicana as the greens and blues remind me of a tropical lagoon.
The dye effect used here is Gemstone.
So now for the sparkly opalescent pieces, which I will admit are tend to be my favourites. As I love using them to add that extra bit of magic to the Fairies and Mermaids that I tend to stitch. These are priced at $47 AUD.

This is Potpourri, Gemstone.
I was originally going to Stitch Joan Elliotts Fire goddess on this piece.

This is Forest Floor, Gemstone.
This is the same colour and effect that I stitched Nora Corbett's Halloween Fairy on.

This is Love Potion, Aurora.

and last but in no way least Tropicana Gemstone.
Getting true to colour pictures of hand dyed fabric is notoriously tricky and I am constantly experimenting with lighting camera settings etc to ensure that pictures are as true as I can make it.  If you are interested in a piece I am more than willing to send you more photos of the piece you are interested.

What I've been up to lately

The example of what summer is going to be like is here with a vengance and I am nearing the end of my huge spring cleanup. I have spent the weekend doing the mundane housework and baked a few batches of biscuits to my Monday to Friday 9-5 job. So now it is time do some more enjoyable me focused tasks. The first being updating this blog and showing of some more of my work.

So for show and tell today I am loading up photos of WIPs. Hopefully now that my clean up is nearing completion I can get in and move the to the completed pile.

The first two items are cross stitch pieces that are starting to look awesome even if I do say so myself they are both being done on 28 Laguna. The purple piece is Gemstone - Love Potion and the pattern I am working on it is the Ink Circles Design Cirque des Cercles. The other piece is opalescent Aurora - Potpourri and the pattern I am working is Joan Elliott's Fire Goddess.

The two bag panels are the same pattern from the book "The bag making bible" by Lisa Lam. I am using my quilting fabrics to compliment the prints. I have a long weekend coming up next weekend and the goal is to get these finished.

Odds and Sods

The story behind the name:

Why I chose the name "The Crafter's Coven" is simple in a round about way.

My goal is to have my own shop, and while I am a avid cross stitcher I like to dabble and create in other fields of craft. I don't create from scratch so I use the term Crafter when I describe myself, and Coven comes from the fact that I want to eventually hold craft groups and lessons and as I was born on Halloween seemed like the most appropriate collective noun.

Dabbling:

So to date, on the embroidery side of things I initially learnt a method called Huckaback (I have seen this also referred to as Monks Stitch). I have rediscovered my love of crochet, but don't seem to have the skill for knitting,  and on occasion when I am inspired I haul out my Janome and I sew, but I stick to   toys and bags, the ladies in my stitching group are just waiting for me to cave in and do a quilt.

Below are some pics of completed projects using 100% cotton that I have hand dyed myself.

Who am I - an intro to me

Hello World,

I suppose the first two questions to answer straight of the bat is who am I and what is this page about.

Firstly so I don't waist anyones time I am not wiccan and not into witchcraft of any kind so if you have because of the term Crafter I apologize and wish you well on your search.

So what am I? I am an avid Cross stitcher who has branch out into hand dying her own fabric.

Eight years ago I relocated to Brisbane and took myself of to the big Craft show we have here every October and I got introduced to three things, a new friend (now one of my best friends), Mirabilia patters and hand dyed fabrics. I went from being the occasional stitcher to almost manic overnight. Since that show I have completed 4 mermaids, 3 Fairies, and 4 of the nine reindeer and a number others.

So what caused the step from stitching to dying, well that was the disappearance from the shop shelves of my favorite  fabric artist and the encouragement of my local craft shop owner to experiment.

Now I am my favorite fabric artist. I have completed these 2 Mirabilia pieces and have Ink circles Cirque des Cercles and Joan Elliotts Fire Goddess in progress.
